Amateur Licensing Information

Following are the forms and Information for applying for an amateur boxing and mixed martial arts license and bout permit:

  1. Club License Application

The club license fee is $50. Our year runs from July 1 through June 30, so all licenses expire June 30 each year. On July 1, the licensing process starts over. Club licenses for amateur boxing are restricted to non-profit organizations, registered as such with the Secretary of State, who have been located and established in this state for one year.

  2. Bond Guide

This is sent to all clubs as a GUIDE ONLY. It has language we require and should be taken to your insurance agent to obtain the bond. All amateur boxing clubs are required to obtain a $1,000 compliance bond. It should be done by the insurance agent, the licensee, and the Attorney-in-fact. The bond should be sent to us along with the Club License Application since the bond is required before we can issue the club license.

  3. Amateur Sanctioning

This office requires an amateur sanction before issuing a bout permit. You can obtain this from Paula Determan of the Nebraska LBC/Association, United States Amateur Boxing, Inc. (USA Boxing), 1932 South 14th Street, Omaha,NE; Phone #:(H)402-505-8334. She will send you information to complete. When you send her what USA Boxing requires, she will issue the amateur sanction and also send us a copy.

  4. Application for Amateur Boxing Permit

This form is mostly for informational purposes. It lists weigh-in and physical times, location, number of bouts, names of referees, date of event, etc. However, we ask that this be sent to us at least fourteen days prior to the date of the show. When we receive our copy of the amateur sanction from Ms.Determan, we can then issue the bout permit. There is no fee for the bout permit.

All applications must be sent to this office at least fourteen (14) days prior to the date of the event. If you can get them in sooner, we would certainly appreciate it, as we will be assigning an inspector, on behalf of the Athletic Commission, to attend the show.

An Athletic Commission representative(s) is present at all events to see that officials are licensed and rules and regulations are followed. The Athletic Commission also receives 5% of the total gross receipts, after sales tax is deducted. It is the responsibility of the Club Licensee to pay any sales tax to the Nebraska State Department of Revenue.

Please review "Nebraska Athletic Commission Boxing & Wrestling Rules & Regulations" carefully.
